MEET OUR JURY:

Carina Escobar, President of the Spanish Platform for Patient Organizations

“Recognizing best practices in precision medicine is essential to ensuring that innovation truly responds to the needs of patients. It is crucial that the patient perspective is integrated into these advancements, guaranteeing equitable access, personalized treatments, and improved quality of life for all.”

Dr. Jan-Willem Boiten, Program Manager at Lygature

“I am a great believer in the promise of personalised medicine to make a decisive impact on the lives of patients and the general population. While this potential has been widely recognized over the past two decades, our healthcare systems are still mostly organized following a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Promoting best practices in personalized medicine is therefore very much needed and I would be happy to support this as a jury member. I expect to be able to provide my experience and perspectives on data-driven health and innovation. I have been working in that field in a broad range of projects over the past 25 years, both in academia and private research, helping to unlock the potential of health data for the benefit of personalised medicine and lately also AI. I expect to be able to contribute that experience as jury member for this ”Best Practice Recognition”.

Dr. Mario Richter, Senior Director QTAS, AbbVie Deutschland

“I am very happy to serve as jury member for PRECISEU as I’m a strong supporter of and believer in precision medicine. One medicine fits all patients is something we need to re-think and get away from.”

Richard Rosenquist Brandell, Professor and Senior Physician in Clinical Genetics at Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm and Director of Genomic Medicine Sweden

“There is a significant push across Europe to implement precision medicine and deliver personalised healthcare. It is crucial to highlight innovative solutions as best practice examples, as this will help us all provide the highest quality care for our patients.”

Antanas MontvilaRadiologist and leader of the Innovation Department at Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kaunas Clinics.

Diana Vertelkienė, director of health technology cluster iVita and head of science, technology and innovation department at JSC Baltec CNC Technologies

“I am privileged to contribute as a jury member, supporting groundbreaking innovations in healthcare data utilization and advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs). The future of personalized medicine depends on bold, data-driven solutions that empower SMEs and startups to revolutionize patient care. By recognizing and accelerating outstanding innovation, we help shape a healthcare landscape where technology, precision, and patient-centric approaches drive real impact”

Cindy KörnerMember of the Patient Research Council of theNational Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT), Germany

“We are on the way towards a true cultural shift. Medical professionals and institutions do not see patients solely as ‚customers‘ and studyparticipants anymore, but truely value our perspectives to help shapingclinical trials, communication and treatments to ensure they meet thepatients‘ needs and requirements. This is especially important forpersonalized treatments. Therefore, I am honored to serve as a jury member for PRECISEU to honor and recognize the endeavors of institutions to develop and establish patient and public involvement.“

Dr. Petko Valov, MD European Health Institute (EHI) –Member of Management Team

“As a jury member for the PRECISEU Best Practice Recognition, I am deeply motivated by the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of personalized medicine through innovative health data solutions. My commitment stems from a passion for improving patient outcomes and fostering collaboration among organizations that are at the forefront of healthcare transformation. I believe that recognizing and promoting best practices in the field not only enhances the quality of care but also inspires continued innovation and ethical standards in health data use. FAQs

Q: Who is considered the official applicant for the prize — the organization or the individual?

The person leading a project would be the right choice for an application. They must be associated with an organisation/institution/company. An PI, for example, is welcome to submit an application.

Q: Can a single organisation submit more than one application? And can multiple entries be submitted under the same category?

Yes, organisations can submit more than one application, provided each submission corresponds to a different innovative project. However, a single project can only be entered once and in one category. If projects significantly overlap (e.g. share the same data protocols or structure), only one of them will be considered in a given category.

Q:Does the project have to be funded by the European Union to be eligible?

No, eligibility is not limited to EU-funded projects. Projects supported by national agencies or other sources are welcome to apply.
